Here’s a neat, inexpensive storage idea I’ve employed for getting my lighter dolls (inflatables and TeddyBabes) up, out of the way, neatly organized, and attractively presented.  I have a lot of light dolls and they are a huge crowding problem in the Doll Room.  So I wanted to get them up off the bed and off the floor.

First a warning:  this method puts the weight of the doll on her neck.  This might be a problem for some dolls.  If you think you’d like to try this be sure you are confident that you will not harm your doll using this method.  For example, I’m not sure yet that I’ll do this with my RSSD Taffy.

So here’s how it works.

I found Medium size dog collars for $5 at PetSmart.  You might even be able to find them cheaper elsewhere.  I chose pink and black.  NOTE: I’m testing the black to see if it leaches color into the dolls and I do NOT recommend you start with black.

Using a 12 inch length of soft cord, tie a loop around the collar’s leash attachment ring.

Attach snugly to the dolls neck.  (With the TeddyBabes, I had to use a hot nail and burn a new hole in the tab in order to get it tight enough on her).

It’s a lot easier to buckle the collar from the front of the doll, then slide it around so the cord loop is at the back of her neck.

Then, simply hang the loop over a hook or nail (I’ve used nails installed vertically on the tops of cross beams as a temporary measure until I decide on a better method).  I don’t particularly like the idea of nails for my permanent installation because they still have the potential to poke thru a doll if handled roughly.  What you see below is a portion of the upper frame of the doll bed.

And that’s all there is to it.
