The above is a before and after photo.  But I’ve photoshopped in some changes.  So let me brief you.

What is real: This is a used Gina Lynn doll.  The top photo is her, in her original state.  What I did was trim her upper teeth, then trimmed her lower teeth.  I put a small piece of pink felt inside her mouth just to help mitigate that all white gaping look.  Finally I took one acrylic iris and placed it in her left eye (that’s the iris I used for the Teagan mod).

What is PhotoShop: Using photoshop, I copied the acrylic iris over to her right side.  I then photoshopped in some eye shadow upper and lower, and darkened her eyebrows with photoshop.

Now, I’m perfectly happy with the way most AirGurlz mouths look like in person.  So I feel no need to trim them.  However, their eyes, eyebrows, and makeup really need work in my opinion.  So what you see here are some real (and permanent) changes in the doll, as well as some photoshop trickery to speed things up for me until I actually do another iris and put on more makeup.

How I did it: Using a pair of very short, sharp, curved scissors I worked along the edge of the top teeth.  I removed just a little at a time, focusing on removing more from the side teeth than the front.  But I did remove some from the front teeth.

On the bottom row I removed as much as I could.  The teeth on these dolls are ridges kinda like a ‘fence’ or ‘dam’.  They are pretty well defined and you can get a set of scissors on them pretty easily.  I just made sure I was slow and deliberate.  Tweezers come in very handy for removing debris as well as pulling bits out a little that are still attached so you can trim them at the base.

I also used plenty of light, and a magnifying visor so I could see in close.

This is a very nerve wracking experience and I don’t recommend it unless you are sure of yourself and can stand to wreck the teeth of your doll if all goes wrong.

March 9, 2010 Update

Today I trimmed her hair short, cut the pate of her head off, and temporarily stuck some acrylic eyes in her head to see how they fit.

Below is a small snapshot.
